Buckingham Summer Club

Helpers needed!

Buckingham Summer Club is for parents and children and will be spread across the six week summer holidays.

We want to help parents to be able to enjoy these six weeks with their children rather than dread them, so hope to be able to show some activities and practical things that can be done to enjoy time together as a family.  The aim is to start some creative thinking and provide ideas and activities to enable families to have fun in the school holidays.

British Heart Foundation Buckingham

Come and meet new people, learn new skills and try something different for a few hours or a couple of afternoons a week – flexible days and times available to suit our volunteers.

Plenty of tea and biscuits, full training and on-going support provided; all that’s needed is a positive attitude being open to giving things a go. We have various roles available from helping on the tills to sorting our donations in the back room, right through to helping with admin and listing unusual items on ebay.

Our volunteers help keep our stores running, which in turn keeps our researchers battling to find new ways to help those living with heart disease. Every pound raised, every minute of your time and every donation to our shops will help make a massive difference to people's lives.

Day and times: We need people to help as of October 2018 on Mon - Saturday afternoons, and any time Sundays - 2 or 3 hours a week is a huge help and allows us to keep the shop running, donations organised and research funded that will combat heart disease, stroke, diabetes and vascular dementia.

We are open 9.30 - 5pm Mon - Saturday and 10 - 4pm Sundays - any time you can give will help us raise funds to save lives

Contact details: Ask for Lou or Jodie on 01280 823210 or b69@bhf.org.uk, or pop in and see us on Market Hill - we're a friendly team; come and have a cuppa and give back to a good cause for a couple of hours each week

The Silverstone Woodlands Volunteers improve the woodlands by taking part in activities which help the trees and wildlife of the woodlands and are looking for more people to help us. It’s a great way to learn new skills and knowledge, keep fit and meet new friends who have an interest in nature and the environment. Our current projects are:
“Basking Butterflies” In conjunction with Butterfly Conservation we are widening a ride (wide grassy path). The shrubs and young trees along the ride have grown tall, narrowing the ride and blocking out sunlight. Cutting some of this back to make the ride wide and open benefits butterflies, including the nationally-rare Wood White.
“Sunny Oaks” The woodlands have a lovely area of young oak trees but they are being overshadowed by willow and birch trees. We are cutting down some of the willow and birch so that the oaks have more light and have more room to grow.
We meet up twice a month, generally the second Sunday and fourth Tuesday, at 10am and work till around 2pm but if you want or need to leave earlier then that’s fine. We have breaks for tea and biscuits!
